Size Guide for Choosing Your Bath Towels

Bath towel, bath sheet, guest towel... Are you getting confused by the different terms? With bath linen, it’s all about size! Discover our size guide to choose the bath towel best suited to your needs and find your perfect match among the RKF Home collections.

30 x 30 cm: The Hand Towel

The smallest size for bath linen, though still a bit larger than a washcloth (typically around 15 x 20 cm), the 30 x 30 cm towel is often called a “hand towel” or “hand square.” This compact size is perfect for keeping near the sink to dry your hands after washing them.

Despite its more modest function, this towel can still be designed elegantly and made from high-quality fabric. After all, it’s the towel you’ll use most often, so it’s worth making sure it’s one you love!

30 x 50 cm: The Head Towel

A little larger at 30 x 50 cm, we have what we call the “head towel” at RKF Home. This intermediate size is perfect for wrapping long hair after a bath or shower.

This small towel can also be used for your hands or serve as a “guest towel” in the bathroom, available for drying your hands after washing them.

50 x 100 cm: The Bath Towel

The bath towel, or simply “towel,” is the smallest of the towels designed for drying the body, typically measuring 50 x 100 cm. Beyond this size, it’s usually called a “sheet.” This size is ideal for practical bath linen to dry both your body and hair after a shower.

50 x 100 cm is also perfect for drying children after their bath or for bringing your own bath towel on a trip without taking up too much space in your suitcase!

70 x 140 cm: The Shower Sheet

The 70 x 140 cm size is often referred to as the “shower sheet.” It’s the most common size found in homes, as well as hotels, as it allows for comfortable drying while still being practical to store, maintain, and so on.

RKF towels and sheets are used in some of the world’s top luxury hotels and spas, thanks to the unmatched comfort of our 600g/m² cotton or our patented Dreamsoft fabric, which is soft and absorbent.

100 x 150 cm: The Bath Sheet

Finally, the largest size we offer is a 100 x 150 cm bath sheet. This size is perfect for wrapping yourself in a cocoon of softness and warmth after a shower, especially during winter.

Larger towels may exist, but such a size is more suited for lounging at the beach or pool rather than daily use.

Weight and Materials: How It Works

Once you’ve selected the size that best fits your intended use for the towel, you’ll notice that two towels of the same size can have other differences: the pattern, but also the material or weight.

For example, the head towel from our “Night in SoHo” collection is made from 500g/m² terry cloth, while the head towel from the “Kyoto Gardens” collection is made from Dreamsoft, at 360g/m². Both are the same 30 x 50 cm size.

The difference between the towels is that the Dreamsoft version has one side made of absorbent terry cloth, while the other side—the outer surface—is softer and fluffier. When it comes to weight, the heavier the bath linen, the more absorbent it is.
